很多人都会好奇，纯电动减速的时候是不是不用刹车这个需要从纯电动汽车制动系统的工作说起，纯电动汽车里面他有一个装置叫动能回收装置，电动车由于没有发动机或者发动机不工作，无法获得稳定的真空源。同时新能源车型本身还需要尽量通过动力电机进行制动能量回收。
由于纯电动汽车的话，它涉及到动能回收装置，所以在减速的时候基本上是可以不用踩刹车的，因为它内部的电机会回馈与回收装置作用的，这个时候可以通过自身的回收装置来起到一定的减速作用，其实简单的理解，就是当汽车减速或制动时，由于惯性，使电动机的转子受力转动，切割磁场，产生电流，电动机就转变为了发电机。
该系统启动工作时，车辆会产生一定程度的拖拽感，不同品牌车型的动能回收力度不同，造成的减速力也不同。这就需要驾驶员尽快熟悉自身车辆动能回收系统的特性，在保证安全的情况下用动能回收系统的制动力来代替刹车将使经济性显著提高，但是如果车速快的话还是要踩刹车的。
从上面来看的话，其实车辆之所以，减速的时候，我们会感觉到有很强的顿挫感，或者是说有制动的感觉，很大的程度其实都是这个动作，回收装置在起一定的作用。
