要说近几年国内最火的车型是什么，那很多人脑海中第一个浮现的就是SUV，这不仅仅是大家的直观感受，也是汽车行业整体数据统计得出的结果。不现今，国人追捧SUV的热潮似乎渐渐褪去，SUV的市场增长持续下降，轿车仍是市场上的主流而且保持了不错的增长趋势，那么，到底是什么原因导致SUV“退烧”了呢？这三点或是关键因素。
第一点是大家最关心的油耗问题，因为国内的油价持续看涨，而SUV本身自重比较大，所以日常使用起来油耗比一般轿车高出不少。现在大部分人用车都是在城市中，合资品牌的1.6L或是1.4T的轿车基本能将拥挤道路上的油耗控制在百公里7升左右，而大多排量相同的SUV油耗则在9升以上，很多家庭就因为这样的油耗差异放弃了SUV。
第二个原因就是SUV的实用性，现在市面上常见的SUV基本都不是真正意义上的SUV，除了哈弗h9丰田霸道等极其特殊的车型之外，大部分SUV都会被赋予了城市SUV的名号。这个称号并不是指什么值得骄傲的事情，这一类SUV除了让我们的视野变得更高之外没有任何优势，通过性跟一般的小轿车差不多。虽说有些品牌的SUV配备了四驱系统，但大部分都配置在高配车型上，销量比较好车型都是适时四驱，并不能很好的应对复杂路况。
第三个原因就是价格，合资品牌中，配置几乎相同的SUV跟轿车相比，两者的差价差不多有六七万。也就是说大家拿高配轿车的钱，只能买到一辆配置低空间小的低配 SUV，如此高的溢价却没有带来任何实际的功能体验，相信大部分注重等价回报的消费者，或是预算不是特别高的消费者都会选择轿车不是SUV。
