守擂向来艰难，宁德时代在今年一季度就失败了。
韩国调研机构SNE Research于5月7日发布的最新报告显示，2020年第一季度，全球电动汽车动力电池的市场份额的头名易主。
连续三年排名行业第一的宁德时代不敌日韩电池，以17.4%的市占率位列第三。而LG化学的市占率同比增长一倍以上，达到27.1%，排名第一。松下以25.7%的市占率继续位居第二。

今年第一季度，LG化学全球动力电池装机量达5.5GWh，这个数字在去年同期仅达到2.5GWh。
韩国三大电动汽车电池制造商LG化学、三星SDI和SKI的合并市场占有率在2020年第一季度也跃升到37.5%，而在2019年同期，这一数字仅为16.4%。
LG化学之所以能坐上冠军宝座，离不开国产特斯拉Model 3的带动。
2020年开年，新冠肺炎疫情带给全球车市一片萧条。但特斯拉Model 3的全球销量在2020年第一季度实现了同比13.6%的上升。
LG化学今年终于如愿进入特斯拉的供应链。据外媒报道，特斯拉2月份在中国工厂所生产的Model 3全部采用LG化学供应的动力电池。
特斯拉在上海实现国产之后，LG化学在南京建的动力电池基地具有不小的地理位置优势。而特斯拉的“老朋友”松下在中国并没有圆柱形电池的生产线。
此前马斯克此前在投资者会议中曾明确表示，在电池包的选择上仍将坚持圆柱形电池，原因是更换电池属性会让整车结构产生较大变化。而LG化学一直没放弃对于圆柱形电池的研发。
一向长期专注于方型电池技术的宁德时代，在入选特斯拉供应商后，特斯拉还需要一定的时间对电池包、电池管理系统等进行再设计，合作进展很难像LG化学一样快。
另外，由于疫情的影响，动力电池行业也无法独善其身。2020年一季度，中国新能源汽车动力电池装机量为5.86GWh，同比下降53.8%。
并且由于疫情爆发较早，企业出现停产停工的现象，今年1~2月，中国本土品牌在包括中国在内的全球市场的装机量，均出现了较大幅度的下降。据SNEResearch数据显示，在全球装机量排名前十的企业中，中国企业的比重从2019年1~2月的32.8%，下降至11.1%。
宁德时代一季度财报显示，今年一季度，其营收和利润出现了同比9.53%和29.14的下滑。比亚迪一季度净利润1.13亿元，同比下降84.98%；营收196.79亿元，同比下降35%。
即使是市占率在一季度内同比攀升153%的LG化学，也未在财务数据上实现上涨。财报数据显示，该公司一季度销售额为7.11万亿韩元（约合人民币412.9亿元），同比增长7.5％；净利润为363亿韩元（约合人民币2.1亿元），同比下降82.9％。
一季度的市场情况来看，全球动力电池行业的格局似乎已发生巨变。不过这样的变动或许是动态的，宁德时代并非已失去机会。
目前来看，韩国电池制造商的舞台重心在欧洲和美国。LG化学于2018年在波兰建立了工厂，SK Innovation和三星SDI也在匈牙利开始建立工厂。此外，LG化学和三星SDI也分别在美国密歇根洲设立了工厂。
不过，随着新冠疫情的蔓延，韩系电池厂商的主要市场——欧美市场正在承受重压。同时，宁德时代“称王”的中国新能源汽车市场正在开始复苏。未来，动力电池的格局或许还将再次发生变化。
