北欧品牌沃尔沃一直因旗下车型良好的安全性被消费为熟知。毕竟，沃尔沃是一个连车标都”系着安全带”的汽车品牌。但是沃尔沃的车型在中国市场的表现却没有因为其安全性好而大放异彩。虽然有些车型在欧洲市场风靡，但是却水土不服于中国市场，沃尔沃XC40就是一个典型的例子。这款紧凑型SUV曾经荣膺欧洲的年度车，然而现如今，却在中国市场无人问津？
外观设计
在外观设计方面，沃尔沃XC40可以说在同级别车型当中属于耐看的类型。前脸延续了清晰的家族式设计，雷神之锤的设计LED日间行车灯有着超强的辨识度。
车身侧面设计也十分紧凑，最吸引人眼球的莫过于20寸的铝合金轮毂，搭配上腰线的内凹风格元素，个性十足。沃尔沃XC40整体外观设计采用的依然是北欧极简的设计，整体视觉效果可圈可点，甚至在上市之初就有媒体称或许能力压德系三强。
内饰设计
内饰方面，沃尔沃XC40和自家老大哥XC60在设计上有很多的共通之处。首先引入眼帘的就是12.3英寸液晶仪表和中央9英寸的多媒体系统。
方向盘同样采用家族式的设计风格，并且带有金属质感的换挡拨片。车内座椅也采用皮质包裹，并且使用纯黑色颜色搭配。厂家原本是希望通过这样的搭配吸引年轻消费者的目光。整体来看沃尔沃XC40的内饰设计风格虽然凸显了年轻化的设计氛围，但是与同级别车型对比还是显得中规中矩。
动力系统
对于一台紧凑型SUV而言，2.0T四缸发动机在动力上只能说是用够用来形容。虽然账面190匹马力与300牛米的数据不算平庸，但作为一款豪华品牌的SUV车型，仅仅拥有2.0T高低功率发动机，显然不能凸显太多的品牌价值。
如果中期改款能够搭配上更强动力的涡轮增压发动机，相信关注它的消费者会比现在多，好在搭配8速手自一体变速箱，也可以在驾驶乐趣方面扳回一城。
销量表现
沃尔沃XC40在欧洲荣膺年度车型，足以说明这款SUV的综合实力。但是中国市场消费者与欧洲或者美国市场消费者的消费需求并不一样。沃尔沃XC40在中国市场遇冷就可以充分说明这个问题，而导致XC40水土不服的很重要原因之一，就是其进口车的身份。
首先，沃尔沃XC40的售价与国产XC60的售价有相当的重叠之处，同样预算的情况下，消费者为什么不买更高级别的XC60呢？再者说，进口车身份的XC40在维修保养价格方面，也会比同级别车型高出不少。虽然说沃尔沃车型的小毛病比较少，但如果车辆出现故障。也会让车主感到头疼，更不用说低得惊人的二手车保值率。上述问题都是导致沃尔沃在中国市场销量惨淡的原因。
小结：沃尔沃XC40在中国市场的遇冷，归根结底还是因为没有结合中国市场的特殊化需求。话说回来，即便 沃尔沃XC40在中国市场表现不佳，但这并不代表它就不是一台好车。对于许多忠实的沃尔沃车主而言，如果想要体验纯正欧洲SUV的设计风格和驾驶乐趣 XC40或许也可以成为一个好的选择。
