安全性高低与铁皮厚度无关，这是检验出来的真理，麻烦拿铁皮厚度衡量安全性高低的消费者，回家买台老普桑玩吧，那玩意铁皮真的厚。
当然今天我们不聊普桑，其实想跟大家聊聊为什么日本车的铁皮这么薄，毕竟薄到一摁下去就是个坑。
其实客观来说日本车铁皮并不薄，或者说整个汽车圈除了路虎是个BUG之外，绝大多数产品的铁皮都非常薄，包括大众、宝马等产品，汽车蒙皮的作用是干什么的？
除了用做装饰之外，它们还起到遮风挡雨的作用，毕竟去掉车辆蒙皮，我们看到的是整个白车身结构。与铁皮遮风挡雨作用不同的是，白车身才负责承力，车辆安全性强不强，看的是骨架，而不是看铁皮。
打个比喻，跟人打架的时候，不是看你皮有多厚，而是看脂肪层跟骨头有多粗壮，其实人的额头是最硬的，原因是头骨硬，而不是头皮硬。
日本人造车非常聪明，该省的省了，不该省的一点不省，蒙皮作为遮风挡雨件以及装饰部件，严格意义上来说不需要造很厚的，关键原因是增加重量的同时，还增加成本用料，毕竟独立岛国的日本资源非常匮乏，同一台车要求极高寿命的同时还必须把好钢用在刀刃上。
有意思的是我们经常可以看到网友的对比，同样尺寸的雅阁跟迈腾，你会发现雅阁一点都不轻，但是它的铁皮的确要比迈腾薄，日本人一方面会把多余的用料移到骨架中，另一方面因为技术相对老旧使得额外占用了质量。
其实对于日本人来说，本土销售的车辆不需要造的与欧美那样壮硕，主要原因是使用环境决定。
日本城市道路拥堵而且道路环境不少，少有无阻碍的高速公路，所以在日本开车很难开得快，这使得其车辆标准就不会与欧美一样高。
一个只能开80km/h的国家与一个高速公路不限速的国家，生产出来的车辆是绝对不一样的，这使得操控有很大的区别，我说的是日本跟德国。
日本的大多数车辆都会做出更好的防护设计，譬如说更多的大车底盘较低，车身尾部不存在很大的间隙，即便追尾也不会存在直接塞车底的要命情况，这种设计多了，即便追尾生还率也就大了。目前国内的货车也都在向这一设计学习，大货车尾部独立放置拦截杆，以防后车追尾全部塞至尾部。
此外，日本人多车的理解仅仅是代步工具而已，而且考虑到严苛的法律法规，日本人大多不会开快车，毕竟一方面道路环境不允许，另一方面驾驶习惯不会太激烈。
日本车在设计之初必须要考虑到成本，所以更多的日本车NVH表现非常差，以本田全系为例表现并不好，主要原因是隔音用料较差，而丰田、本田、日产这些产品操控又不好，源头还得从日企的风格上说起。
当然操控差、铁皮薄不能否认日本车是好车的客观事实，在日本人眼里一切都要务实，对于他们而言只要能保证安全性以及耐用性，其他产品表现可以着需求附加。
