GTI是大众旗下的一款紧凑级性能轿车，而7.5代车型在华也已销售了些许年头，而国内众多车迷将其称之为“MK7”（意为MARK类似车型代号，如7.5代高尔夫=MK7）。目前全新高尔夫GTI渲染图现已曝光，新车海外起售价预计为28000美元（约为20万人民币）。此外，新车已于本月正式投产，预计将于9月法兰克福车展上正式亮相，并于年内正式开售。
作为一款紧凑级钢炮车型而言，动力则是众多车迷朋友所关注的焦点；新车将搭载一台2.0T涡轮增压发动机+48伏电动机所组成的轻混系统，最大功率201kW，传动系统匹配7速双离合变速箱，百公里加速均需不到6s。此外，新车或将首次导入高尔夫R的四驱系统。
