驶证到期当天最好不要扣分。不要扣分的具体原因：驾驶证一个周期结束前一个星期内驾驶人最好不要处理违章扣分，因为一个周期最后一个星期处理的驾驶证违章扣分都会计入下个周期扣分的，会影响驾驶人下个周期恢复12分的。

《机动车驾驶证申领和使用规定》第六十四条规定，机动车驾驶人初次申请机动车驾驶证和增加准驾车型后的12个月为实习期。
