或许是上一代车型太过优秀，也或许是最新一代的设计太没新意，总之被奥迪寄予厚望的新一代Q5，也就是现款车型（国内车型为奥迪Q5L）并没有收到奥迪预想中的市场表现，反而更多的是消费者对产品的负面情绪。不过这种情况或许将迎来改观，因为中期改款的奥迪Q5谍照被外媒发现了。
作为中期改款车型，主体车身结构不会进行全面的革新，因此新款Q5的外形轮廓依然是我们熟悉的样子。从伪装贴纸的覆盖区域来看，新车外形的变化也主要集中在前脸和尾部。从外媒对新车的描述我们发现，新款Q5前脸的变化更接近奥迪Q8，前进气格栅内部的条幅、前灯组内部结构，以及前保险杠两侧的雾灯区域将会发生变化。
车尾的变化并不多，主要集中在尾灯组的内部结构和排气造型。其中新车尾灯组表面更加平滑，并非现款车型内凹式的设计，排气预计依然是俗称“假排气”的排气造型，但排气口样式将会得到调整。
从海外版车型来看，新车的动力系统将继续搭载2.0TFSI汽油、2.0TDI柴油及3.0TDI柴油三款发动机，传动系统匹配6速手动、7速S tronic双离合和8速tiptronic手自一体变速箱（8速tiptronic手自一体变速箱仅3.0TDI柴油车型提供）。
从国内来看，目前在售的第二代奥迪Q5尽管轴距进行了加长，也在名字后边增加了L，但不具新意的外观、内饰，以及性能被削弱的Quattro四驱系统，让其竞争力明显下降。虽然在后期官方通过降价挽回了一定的市场，但不得不说，这代奥迪Q5并不成功，预计中期改款车型一汽-大众奥迪会同步引入国产，但是否会成为爆款，编辑并不看好。（谍照来源：Autoevolution）
