丰田如预告，在 2019 洛杉矶车展上带来采用 Plug-in Hybrid 插电式由电混合动力的 RAV4 Prime。新车可以输出 302 匹的综效马力；同时透过更大的锂电池组，可以纯电方式行驶 62 公里。
史上最速也最省油的 RAV4
RAV4 Prime 在动力结构方面，搭载与现行 RAV4 Hybrid 相同的 2.5 升 4 缸 Atkinson 循环自然进气引擎，引擎可独立输出最大 176 匹马力。但 RAV4 Prime 在搭配功率更高的电动马达，可输出 302 匹的综效马力，超越第 3 代 RAV4 3.5 的 269 匹马力；而与油电系统搭配的则是 E-Four 四轮驱动系统，0 至 60 英里加速可于 5.8 秒完成，不仅比 RAV4 Hybrid 快上 2 秒整，也比第 3 代 RAV4 3.5 的 6.3 秒快上半秒。
除了性能方面的全面提升外，RAV4 Prime 透过安装在座位下方、新一代且容量更大的锂离子电池组，不仅降低车辆重心，更提升车辆油耗表现与纯电行驶距离。原厂表示，在美国 EPA 规范下，RAV4 Prime 可以纯电行驶 63 公里，并拥有 90 MPGe 的能效表现，乃是史上最省油的 RAV4。

而 RAV4 Prime 在美国将提供 SE 与 XSE 两等级车型。SE 车型搭载 18 吋铝圈、亮黑车外饰件，以及电调驾驶座、7 吋信息幕与 8 吋中央娱乐等；XSE 则升级 19 吋铝圈、免钥匙系统、9 吋触控中央娱乐、环景等配备，更搭载车系首见的 HUD 抬头显示器与可控制模拟档位的换档拨片，在降档时更可增强动能回收。
